Around 1980 we purchased a toaster (not a toaster oven)that mounts under the cupboards - part of the the Black & Decker "Spacesaver" line (made by Toastmaster). We have been using it now for over 30 years and it's still going strong !! I recently gave it a new look with Melamine paint so it would continue to fit in to our beautiful modernized kitchen. This is one of the best products we've ever owned, and unfortunately for some reason is no longer available . . . too bad !!!!

Back in 1974, I found a toy riding fire truck on a trash heap, and went out and looked it over. It wasnt in too bad condition, except some of the welds broke away from the frame.
The only thing I needed was to remove the rivets and rebolt it together.
I had just enough cash on hand by eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for two weeks and went to the local hardware store and bought a 1/4 drill with a speed bit and four bolts and nuts, then went home an spent the next three nights drilling out the rivets and putting in the bolts. The fire truck was cleaned up to almost new and presented to my son who just loved it as well as the other children in the neighborhood! If Black & Decker didn't make a drill in that day at the cost they did, a memory for both of us wouldn't be there.
The drill is still working and is still cherished today. The memory comes back every time I use it.

I am one of the lucky mothers whose son knows what his old mother really wants...tools! Last Christmas he gave me the Alligator wood cutter and I have bragged about it ever since! Living in a woodland, there is plenty of downed timber to use for firewood, but getting out the chainsaw is heavy work! With the Alligator I can have a face cord of perfect wood cut in 15-20 minutes - all with no effort! Other pluses include low noise (old ears, you know!), extreme safety, and hardly any sawdust. It's a mean, clean cutting machine that I will use for years! Thanks, B & D!

I just recently bought a Blace & Decker pivoting head, hand held vacuum, but not for the regular reasons. I bought it to vacuum dog hair from my favorite sitting chair. It works Great!!!. I have a short hair Jack Russell terrier and he sheds like crazy. The Black & Decker vacuum gets into the cracks and crevices like nobody's business. In the car, a lint roller wouldn't even get the dog hair up, with my Black & Decker, no problem. All the little white dog hairs are gone. I LOVE IT! Thanks Black & Decker.

When I am asked if I can fix things I sometimes answer, heck I was practically born with a drill in my hand.
A Black and Decker !
My father was very mechanically inclined and did many construction and repair jobs around the house. Many of those jobs required the use of a power drill.
I must have been my father's shadow as I remember from a very young age watching, learning and then eventually using the drill myself.
We used that tool to drill, sand, wire brush, and drive screws. I bet that drill had hundreds of hours of use in its years of service.
We eventually had to purchase a second model.
With all that use of the tools came maintenance and repair of the drills themselves, and this is where I learned some very valuable life experiences.
I became very familiar with the internal workings of an electrical power tool.
I learned how to replace the brushes, clean the armature and polish the commutator. I learned how to reoil and/or replace the bronze bushings. How to shim the motor and repack the gear case. Those teachings gave me the knowledge and confidence to rebuild a multitude of electiric driven devices in my many years of doing construction and handywork.
I once actually thought of getting that "Olde" all aluminum "My First Drill" gold plated to hang above the shop bench.
Needless to say "Black and Decker" has played a major part in my life as a part-time handyman.
I currently own four "Black and Decker" drills, two Black and Decker hedge trimmers, a "Black and Decker" bench grinder and a "Black and Decker" lawn mower.
Keep making great products so I can keep drilling, sanding, wire brushing, paint mixing, screw driving, grinding, and mowing.

Thanks

At the present time the only Black & Decker tool that I have is a cordless drill that was a gift many years ago. I am in my 80s so tools that I get in this stage of life are generally gifts so I accept whatever brand that i might be gifted with. However, beginning about 60 years ago I started buying Black & Decker and used only them until maybe 15 or 20 years ago. It is a good tool made by a reputable company.

My wife purchased a MM850 corded reconditioned lawn mower from you VF outlet in Reading Pa in Sept/2001. I have used that mower at our first home from late march to nov.The property was almost 1 acre with 4 large maple tree. In the fall I was able to use the mower to collect the leaves on our lawn and the next door neighbor"s ,he was 83 yrs old and disabled. I did this for 7 years, replacing the plastic square that attaches the blade to the motor. I now have moved using the mower for lawn cutting only.I hac to replace the fan finally but have never had to replace anything else. I have so many other stories about your company including one about a hammer drill I purchased in Israel when I lived there and worked a contruction site. GREAT COMPANY GREAT PRODUCTS my garage is full of your tools. Thanks

I purchased a Black & Decker Drill 12 volt Model HPD1202 a few years ago it has been a great tool for my shop! The removable chuck is real handy in doing small job around our home. If it ever wears out I plan to replace it with the same type! Keep up the good work in tool line. Thanks Dan Murray
